PORTLAND,
OR Ð On Saturday April 2nd pirate rock aficionados young and old
will assemble in full pirate regalia in the quiet recesses of Beverly Cleary
ChildrenÕs Library to raise a ruckus with their favorite buccaneer band,
CAPTAIN BOGG & SALTY, as they return to port with ÒPEGLEG TANGOÕ Ñ their
long awaited, 2nd full cargo of music and nautical nonsense for pirates of all
ages. The two free 40-minute concerts start at 11AM and 2PM. Beverly Cleary
ChildrenÕs Library is located in Multnomah County Central Library in downtown
Portland.
CAPTAIN BOGG & SALTYÕS new CD
ÔPEGLEG TANGOÕ contains 14 tracks (10 new songs, 1 cover, and 3 audio sketches)
and is on a collision course to rival the bandÕs prior release as the ultimate
soundtrack to Òplay pirate.Ó Their
prior release ÔBEDTIME STORIES FOR PIRATES (1999),Õ is an independent
phenomenon that is for sale all over the globe and a staple product in the
cannon of many pirate-themed attractions: Treasure Island Las Vegas Casino,
Pirates of Nassau Museum Ð Bahamas, and TeachÕs Hole Blackbeard Museum (built
on the site of the notorious pirate's death).
Since
their formation in 1999 CAPTAIN BOGG & SALTY has become a performances
favorite in the NW. They were even voted ÒBest Pirate Rock Band for the
KiddiesÓ by the Willamette Week in 2004 for their standing room only,
tot-moshing tour of dozens of Multnomah County libraries. Draped in character
and covered in pirate costumes, this band of six music scene and sketch comedy
alums delivers a theatrical-rock, pirate-pop show that has delighted even the
most seasoned buccaneer.
CAPTAIN
BOGG & SALTY is as likely to be found in PortlandÕs rock clubs as in
schools where the group performs under the flag of Young Audiences of Oregon
& Washington. Recent performances included Beaverton City Library, The Bite
Of Oregon, Pendleton Roundup, and The National Orange Show in San Bernardino.
This summerÕs shows will include Linn County Fair, Bite of Salem, and Festival
de Piratas Ñ the bandÕs own nationally recognized festival of pirate music that
is now in its sixth year.
CAPTAIN
BOGG & SALTY CDs are available in Music Millennium Stores in Portland and
the bandÕs own website www.EATALIME.com. Visit the website for current
